Below, you will find the detailed daily itinerary for this unforgettable 12-day adventure. Carefully designed to provide a perfect balance of cycling, relaxation, and exploration, this journey is sure to leave you with lasting memories of Uganda’s stunning landscapes and vibrant culture.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kampala

    Upon arrival in Uganda, you will immediately feel the warm welcome of this beautiful country, known as the Pearl of Africa. After passing through customs, a friendly guide will be waiting to transfer you to your first accommodation in Entebbe. Take this time to rest, acclimatise, and prepare for the adventure ahead. If you brought your own bicycle, now is the time to assemble it. If you are renting a bike, it will be ready and adjusted to your preferences the following morning.

  • Day 2: From Kampala to the Griffin Falls

    After a hearty breakfast, your journey begins with a short boat ride to the starting point of your cycling route. You’ll travel along off-road paths, passing local communities just beyond Kampala’s busy streets. One of today’s highlights is the Ssezibwa Falls, surrounded by lush greenery. The cascading water cutting through narrow passages creates an impressive sight, enhanced by the gentle sounds of nature. Continue your ride through tea plantations, sugarcane fields, and the enchanting Mabira Forest. Known for its dense canopy and vibrant wildlife, this classic African jungle is a cyclist’s paradise. The day concludes with your arrival at Griffin Falls, a hidden gem nestled within the tropical forest.

  • Day 3: From Griffin Falls to Jinja

    Cycle through the captivating Mabira Forest, surrounded by towering ancient trees. Your route leads you to Jinja, located at the source of the Nile. The sense of adventure only deepens as you cross the Nile by boat with your bike, offering stunning views of the river.

  • Day 4: Rest Day in Jinja

  • Day 5: Cycling from Jinja to Kalagala Falls

Itanda Falls, considered one of Uganda’s hidden gems, boasts some of the most powerful rapids in the country. This scenic area is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. The day ends with a memorable experience -crossing the Nile by canoe with your bike. As you reach the opposite shore, you’ll be met with beautiful natural surroundings that mark the end of an incredible day.

  • Day 6: From Kalagala Falls to The Great Outdoors

    Following the Nile’s banks, your adventure continues through the authentic landscapes of Uganda. Today’s journey offers a deeper insight into the local way of life and allows you to explore more remote areas. After a full morning of cycling, you will be transferred to The Great Outdoors—a peaceful retreat ideal for unwinding and recharging. Surrounded by nature, this serene location offers the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. To end the day, take a refreshing dip in the pool while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

  • Day 7: Cycling to Amuka

    Today’s route takes you through lush, green landscapes. Uganda, often referred to as the ‘Green Pearl of Africa’, lives up to its name as you pass through verdant scenery. The terrain gradually flattens, providing a welcome change after the challenging hills of the previous days. You’ll ride through pineapple fields and, of course, there will be opportunities to enjoy fresh fruit along the way. Later in the day, a transfer will take you to Amuka.

  • Day 8: Rest Day and Rhino Trekking

    Vandaag is een dag om even op adem te komen, maar dat betekent zeker niet dat er niets te beleven valt. Je bent in Oeganda, en dit land heeft nog zoveel te bieden! Deze dag staat in het teken van een unieke ervaring: een trekking om neushoorns te spotten. En ja, je leest het goed – neushoorns! Onder begeleiding van een lokale ranger ga je in het Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch te voet op zoek naar deze indrukwekkende dieren in hun natuurlijke omgeving.

    Een bijzonder feitje: Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch is de enige plek in Oeganda waar witte neushoorns leven. Dit reservaat werkt sinds 2005 hard aan hun missie om deze bedreigde diersoort uiteindelijk terug te brengen naar hun oorspronkelijke leefomgeving bij de Murchison-watervallen. Tijdens de trekking geniet je niet alleen van het zien van de neushoorns, maar ook van de vele andere wilde dieren en de rijke vogelpopulatie.

    Na een ochtend vol indrukken en unieke ontmoetingen is het tijd om door te reizen naar je volgende verblijfplaats.

  • Day 9: Journey to Budongo Forest

    Your Uganda cycling tour continues as you cycle towards Budongo Forest, located on the edge of Murchison Falls National Park. This ancient forest combines dense jungle with sprawling savanna and is rich in wildlife. Along the route, you may encounter chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and olive baboons, as well as numerous unique bird species. Today’s terrain is varied, with some challenging yet short climbs. After ascending, you’ll be rewarded with flat stretches and a relaxing descent towards Budongo Eco Resort.

  • Day 10: From Budongo to Red Chilli

    Today offers a mix of exploration and relaxation. Start your morning with an optional chimpanzee trekking experience through Budongo Forest, where you may have the chance to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
    Alternatively, you can explore the area on your own. Later, you will take a short transfer towards Murchison Falls National Park. The journey itself is a wildlife spotting opportunity, as the region is home to a diverse array of animals.

  • Day 11: Relaxation and Exploration

    On this day, you have the opportunity to join a game drive in search of wildlife, including the renowned Big Five. This experience is often a highlight of the trip, offering an up-close look at Uganda’s stunning wildlife. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a boat trip along the Nile towards Murchison Falls. As you approach the falls, you may spot elephants drinking by the river, hippos surfacing for air, or even crocodiles gliding through the water. The area is teeming with life. After the boat trip, you will hike to the top of the falls. Witnessing the Nile forcefully crashing through a narrow 6-metre-wide gorge before plummeting down 43 metres is a truly breathtaking sight.

Useful Information

Mixed and Flexible Skill Levels

This trip is suitable for participants of all skill levels. You will be travelling with a group that may include both experienced cyclists and those who are less accustomed to long rides. If you ever feel the need to skip part of the route, you can always join the support vehicle. Want to make the experience easier? Opt for rent one of our electric mountain bikes.
 

Useful Information

Group Size: This cycling trip requires a minimum of 4 participants to proceed. For every group of 4, a guide and driver will be there to support you throughout your journey.

Preparation is Key

Good preparation can make all the difference! To ensure you’re fully ready for your cycling adventure through Uganda, it’s essential to pack the right gear. Below, you’ll find a list of must-have items and practical clothing tips to help make your journey safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Before the Trip:

  • Passport: Valid for at least 6 months, with at least two blank pages side by side.
  • Insurance: Ensure you have travel, cancellation, and health insurance. We recommend adding 'Flying Doctors' insurance (approximately €40).
  • Vaccinations: Confirm that all required vaccinations are up to date.
  • Visa: Apply for a Ugandan visa in advance. If applying online, remember to bring your approval letter.

During the Trip:

  • Windbreaker (short sleeves preferred)
  • Removable arm and leg warmers
  • Rain jacket
  • Helmet: Only required if you bring your own bike. Not needed if renting our MTB or E-MTB.
