Ride 4 Girl Child
Ride for a good cause: Matany Girls' Vocational School
CvA travel stands for adventure, cycling and travel, but not only that. At CvA travel we like to give something back to the world, to the places we visit and to the communities we are among during our adventurous cycling trips.
Matany Girls’ Vocational School is one of those. This initiative is in the Karamoja region, in the north-east of Uganda. Girls in Karamoja face considerable challenges, such as poverty, limited access to education and healthcare, early marriage, gender-based violence and the consequences of conflict. These factors create a vicious circle of poverty and limited opportunity, which means children and young girls here do not get a fair chance. One they do deserve.
Fortunately, the charity was set up there in 2011 under the leadership of director Naduk Florence Nora, a girl born in Karamoja. Together with the support of the Dutch Andreas Manna Foundation, the Andreas Manna Stichting Uganda (AMFU) was established.
By taking part in the fundraising event “Tour of Karamoja” you discover the region, come into contact with real Ugandan life and make an important contribution to the lives of these girls.
Together with the community we are joining forces for a better life in this region. How? By offering young girls and women schooling, creating employment and training them.
