The Tour of Karamoja is a truly unique experience, even for seasoned mountain bikers. It is not just the variety of trails, tracks, singletrack, dry riverbeds and demanding climbs and descents that make this ride so memorable. Cycling through a completely different landscape, surrounded by tropical scenery, fascinating cultures, remote villages and some of the friendliest people you could hope to meet, is what makes the experience so special. Knowing that your participation also helps support opportunities for young people in the region makes the journey even more meaningful.
The excellent organisation and support throughout the event are essential in making such a demanding ride achievable for everyone. I have cycled in Africa before, but this experience was on another level—more immersive and more intense. Don’t be surprised if it takes quite some time after returning home to process everything you’ve seen and experienced.
