Tailor-made trips in Rwanda
Your rhythm in Rwanda, the Land of a Thousand Hills
Rwanda is physically demanding. The landscape is a succession of hills and mountains. On a tailor-made trip, we can fine-tune the daily distances and the difficulty of the stages exactly to your fitness level and wishes. Where a group trip follows a fixed schedule, here you can take control.
Do you want to push your physical limits and put in long days on the Congo Nile Trail? You can. But perhaps you would rather be active in the morning and have time in the afternoon to relax by the lake or explore a village. We know the routes and the elevation profiles. We advise you on where it is best to cycle and which sections you could potentially cover by car to save energy. This keeps the trip fun and challenging, without overexerting yourself.

Choice of bikes with a tailor-made Rwanda trip: Mountain bike or E-MTB?
The choice of the right bike is crucial in a hilly country like Rwanda. We advise you on this for a tailor-made trip. Are you a trained cyclist who loves to push hard? Then our Specialized mountain bikes are ready for you.
Do you want the experience of cycling through the villages and nature, but are dreading the severity of the hills? Then the e-mountain bike is the ideal solution. We have brought these bikes specifically to Rwanda to make the country more accessible. With an e-MTB, the landscape becomes flatter and you can cover greater distances with a smile. It is also ideal if you are travelling together with someone who has a different cycling level; this easily evens out the difference.

Private guidance with a tailor-made trip: Your team on the road
On a tailor-made trip, you hit the road with your own team: a local guide and a driver with a private vehicle. This offers tremendous added value. Your guide cycles with you and adapts to your pace. They are there for the route, but also for safety and technical support. Our guides are trained in bicycle mechanics, so in the event of a breakdown, you are helped immediately.
The driver and the support vehicle provide logistical convenience. Your luggage is transported, water is always available, and the car acts as a broom wagon. Don’t feel like tackling that one steep climb today? Then you just hop in. This flexibility ensures a relaxed travel experience. You are never on your own, yet you have complete privacy.
Culture and depth with a tailor-made trip in Rwanda
A trip through Rwanda is also a trip through a country with an extraordinary story. On an individual trip, there is room for depth. Your guide can tell you a lot about the history, the genocide, and the impressive reconstruction of the country.
You can choose to incorporate specific cultural stops. Think of a visit to the Genocide Memorial in Kigali, the King’s Palace in Nyanza, or a coffee plantation where you learn about the entire process from bean to cup. Because you are with a private guide, you can engage with this in a personal way and ask questions you might not ask in a large group.
Best time to travel to Rwanda
Rwanda is located close to the equator and enjoys a stable climate with temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius. Because the landscape is mountainous, it can feel chilly at altitude, especially in the evenings. For a tailor-made cycling trip, rainfall is the most important factor to take into account.
Long dry season (June – August): This is the most popular period. The chance of rain is small, the unpaved roads are hard and easily passable, and the views are clear.
Short dry season (December – February): This is also an excellent time to cycle. The country is beautifully green after the autumn rainy season, but the days are predominantly dry.
Rainy seasons (March – May & October – November): More rain falls during these months. This makes nature at its most beautiful (emerald green), but the roads can become muddy and demanding. For the adventurous cyclist who has flexibility in their daily schedule, this can be a wonderful and quiet period. For those seeking certainty and comfort, the dry months are the best choice.
