Individually by bike from Laos to Vietnam – your adventure and pace

A cycling trip from Laos to Vietnam is more than just a journey; it is a unique experience where nature, culture, and freedom come together. During this individual cycling trip, accompanied by a private guide, you determine the pace and the itinerary yourself. One thing is certain: when you go cycling through Laos and Vietnam, the most beautiful views will amaze and surprise you time and time again. The north of these 2 countries is a paradise for adventurous cyclists.

This cycling trip takes you to places that have barely been discovered. From the quiet mountain passes of Laos to the dramatic karst landscapes of Northern Vietnam, every bend reveals a new breathtaking landscape. Where many travelers only visit the “tourist” highlights, we specifically look for the hidden gems. In the north of Laos and Vietnam, this is not that difficult, because if you ask us, the north of these countries is our favorite. Will you hit the road with a gravel bike, mountain bike, or e-bike? It is all possible on this individual journey through both countries.

The cycling route through Laos and Vietnam

Your cycling adventure begins in atmospheric Luang Prabang, where you cycle along the Mekong River to the Kuang Si Waterfall. From this city, you journey deeper into the nature of Laos, cycling through rice fields and jungle to Nong Khuay, a traditional Hmong and Khummu village, where you stay overnight with a host family. The following days take you over remote roads to Nong Khiaw, a village on the Nam Ou River surrounded by imposing karst mountains. Your journey continues to Oudomxay, where you stay in the rainforest. Then further up the river by longtail boat to Muang Khua. After a challenging bike ride through the mountains, you cross the border into Vietnam and arrive in Dien Bien Phu, a city with a rich war history. From here, the route winds through valleys, rice fields, and traditional stilt villages to Muong Lay and Lai Chau. The highlight is the ascent of the legendary O Quy Ho Pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. The descent brings you to Sapa where you take the cable car to the top of Fansipan mountain, the “roof of Indochina” at an altitude of 3,147 meters. The final cycling day takes you through the beautiful valley of Lao Chai and Ta Van, after which you take the night train to Hanoi where this cycling trip ends.
